Bridging Oil & Gas Talent Gaps with the Military Community

Last week, the Military Connected team had the privilege of attending an inspiring conference
hosted by our valued partner, DISA Global Solutions. It was an incredible experience filled with
meaningful conversations and eye-opening insights. For those unfamiliar, DISA is a trailblazer in
employee screening and compliance solutions, equipping businesses with the tools they need to
build safer, more reliable workforces.

What stood out most at the event was the undeniable synergy between the needs of the oil and
gas industry and the strengths of the military community. As we engaged with employers, the
message was clear: this sector is hungry for disciplined, safety-conscious, and skilled talent
to operate effectively in high-stakes environments. Upstream and downstream operations in
oil and gas require people who can think on their feet, adapt quickly, and work collaboratively –
all qualities that veterans and military spouses bring to the table in spades.

One recurring challenge discussed at the conference was the struggle to find reliable talent for
roles requiring a deep commitment to safety and compliance. Whether it’s ensuring operational
safety in drilling sites or maintaining precision in logistics, these companies need professionals
who can deliver excellence under pressure… and veterans are a perfect fit for these roles! With
their extensive training in risk management and mission-critical operations, our country’s
veterans have a natural aptitude for industries where safety and accountability are nonnegotiable.

The conference left us with a renewed sense of purpose: helping employers in industries like oil
and gas connect with the untapped potential of the military community. These partnerships are a
win-win. Veterans and military spouses find fulfilling careers where their unique skills shine,
while businesses gain loyal, hardworking team members who drive results. It’s a reminder that
hiring from the military isn’t just a “nice to have” – it’s a strategic advantage.
